Overpriced at $45 each because of poor quality food. Our waitress brought our glasses of sparkling but insisted on pouring the first cup of tea which got cold while we were drinking wine. A beautiful setting can be the icing on the cake of a good high tea, we found this to be true at Chateau Tongariro. The staff are lovely and helpful. It's walking distance to the start of the Tongariro Northern Circuit. The ski area is within 10 minutes by car, but there was nearly no snow.Pool and sauna were not worth mentioning ... both are located in the basement, no windows, low ceilings, pool is only 90cm deep, old.
